Spring 2026 Concert

When: Sunday 19 April 2026, 5:30-9:30 pm

  • 5:30: Call time. Everyone arrives for warm-up and sound checks

  • 6:30: Prepare Stage; Prepare for Audience

  • 7:00: Concert

  • 8:30: Reception and refreshments

  • 9:00: Pack up

  • 9:30: Exit building

Where: Alexandria Lyceum, 201 S Washington St, Alexandria, VA 22314

Program (tentative; order tbd):

  • Quartet: Paula (v1), Bettina (v2), Grace (va), James (vc). Bach, Goldberg variations (arr), Foote, string quartet #1, 1st Mvt.

  • Clarinet trio: Nathan (cl), Tiago (vc), Cate (p). Brahms trio.

  • Quartet: Mary Beth (v1), Kaye E (v2), Lisa F (va), Makayla D (vc). Dvorak, American Quartet (tentative).

  • Piano trio: Cooper (p), Virginia (v), Zachary (vc). Piece tbd.

  • Large ensemble: Vivaldi Concerto for Two Cellos RV 531.

Vivaldi ensemble:

  • Soloists — Cello 1: Tiago; Cello 2: Ralph.

  • Ripieno — Violin 1: Mary Beth, Kaye; Violin 2: Joan, Virginia; Viola: Grace, Amanda, Michael; Cello: Zachary, Melissa; Bass: Simon.

  • Rehearsal 1: Sunday 3/29 3:00 pm, Ralph’s house, Alexandria

  • Rehearsal 2: Sunday 4/12 3:00 pm, Ralph’s house, Alexandria

  • Parts: Cello 1 (solo), Cello 2 (solo), Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello/Bass, Score

  • Please watch this recording. I recommend listening while following the score several times to internalize the entries and timings. We will not have a conductor.

  • Note that the RV number in IMSLP is incorrect. The correct number is RV 531.
